Explain different types of platforms

A game platform is just a type of  system that is able to play games such as most computer systems, Microsoft's Xbox 360 and also Sony's PlayStation 3. Over the last 50 years game platforms have advanced a great deal as the first home console the Magnavox Odyssey only had one game and the controllers only had a dial to move up and down. Whereas the most recent generation on game platform for example the Xbox ONE has a controller with around 16 buttons two of which are analogue sticks which are basically miniature joysticks for just you're thumbs and also gives you access to the internet and allows you to communicate with other players around the world.

The first home stand-alone console was named the Magnavox Odyssey. The Magnavox was first demonstrated in front of an audience at the beginning of 1972 and was later released in august the same year. The designer and creator of the Magnavox Odyssey was Ralph Baer who actually had a working prototype of the console ready by 1968 the prototype was known as the Brown Box.

Arcade games

Arcade machines are usually large metal or plastic covered machine which contain a computer system which normally let you play one specified game such as Time crisis or House Of The Dead.
The first ever coin-operated arcade machine was the computer space machine to be commercially sold, this machine was created by Ted Dabny and Nolan Bushnell which were also the original Atari founders. The gameplay consisted of moving a rocket ship around space trying not to get hit by any enemy bullets and from crashing into flying saucers and shooting them to destroy them. When each round ended if you're score was higher than the computers after 90 seconds of play you were rewarded with another 90 seconds of play.

Arcade games used to be played a lot more in earlier years when gaming on stand-alone consoles in you're own home was not as big. Arcades used to always have up-to-date machines giving you the most recent in gaming technology but now days arcades haven't upgraded the machines they used In a couple of years therefore the population usually have a much better entertainment system in their own home.

My Platforms

I am a relatively heavy gamer as I spend a fair amount of hours a day playing games or at least reading about them. I would say that i have bursts of addiction towards gaming as when a new game is released and to me seems like it will be good, I will usually buy it and play it for hours on end sometimes exceeding past twelve hours in one go. I play a large variety of games ranging from JRPG (Japanese Role-Playing Game) to the genre of FPS (First Person Shooter) which are very different in terms of game play but I personally enjoy almost any genre of game.

I play games for a lot of different reasons for example I find them highly entertaining and if the game I am playing is good enough I can spend hours on end even sometimes a whole day playing without stopping. I sometimes find myself addicted to some games and I end up forgetting to do things in the real world such as make dinner, do homework and sometimes stay up too late and end up being late for work as I'm so tired. The thing that attracts me to game the most is the fact that I can be whoever I want to be and do things that are impossible in real life. I play games a lot more now than i used to because of online and the different people that you meet during you're online experience. I have met a couple of people in real life that i originally met on a game and became good friends with them, that is something that encourages me to play games, the fact I can talk with friends and share the fun.

I have owned a number of different gaming platforms in my life time and here is a list; Nintendo 64, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox360, GameCube, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, GameBoy, and others.

My earliest gaming memory is playing final fantasy VII when i was three with my dad, he used to spend a lot of time with me playing games and helping through those I was stuck on.
